Local Place Plan
Edinburgh Old Town Development Trust and Old Town Community Council are preparing a Local Place Plan - a community-led document that will influence how Edinburgh's planning policies apply to our area. We want to hear from everyone who lives, works, studies or spends time in the Old Town about what matters to you and what could be better.
What is a Local Place Plan?
A Local Place Plan is a community-led document outlining the community’s vision and proposals for their area. This is THE opportunity for local people to shape the future of the Old Town and we need your help to reach as many local people as possible. We are specifically looking for views of people who live (or work) in the Old Town.
What do we want to know?
We want to hear broadly about what people
- like and don’t like about the Old Town
- feel is missing
- want to protect
- would like to see changed
What is the timeline?
We will gather people’s views over the months of April, May, June and July 2026.
How you can help:
- Talk to others about the development of the local place plan and encourage them to get involved
- Come along to any of our drop in events to share your views. There will be free food and refreshments. These will take place at the Crannie on
- 18 April (AGM and open day) 12-4pm
- 4 May 11-3pm
- 5 June 3-6pm.
- Complete the online questionnaire
Why bother?
The Local Place Plan is an opportunity for people to directly influence how the local area develops. The Crannie Community Hub will use the information we gather to create a community action plan to help address the challenges our local area faces and work towards re-establishing a sense of community and pride in the local area.
